The Summer of 1918, early morning sortie: A flight of Hansa-Brandenburg W-29 Kriegsmarine fighters fly past a two masted schooner on a North Sea patrol. Birds of a different feather, the schooner with her vertical canvas airfoils is an endangered species in the last days of the great Age of Sail.
For What We Are To Receive - 20 x 30 - Oil. 14 August, 1761: After a 14 hour chase, HMS Bellona caught up and engaged the French 74 gun ship Courageux at 5am. After 9 minutes of fierce combat Bellona lost her mizzen mast. Courageux lost hers 11 minutes later. The butcher's bill was a catastrophe for the French with 240 men killed and 110 wounded. Bellona lost only 6 killed with 28 wounded. Courageoux struck her colors at four minutes past seven.
