  • Packing for Plein Air

Having done Plein Air for several years, I have learned to keep sizes simple. I suggest to those artists facing this challenge.

When packing for a Plein Air Event, only choose two sizes (panels are best) to paint. This will allow you to simplify your framing and hang your work quickly when complete. Also, you will be "frame ready "when you start and be able to choose different styles if needed. Very helpful.

When painting on location, outdoors, especially on a beach or worse, a rocky terrain, throw several old paint tube caps at the bottom of your bag. I have lost them several times. Being prepared is best.

Additionally, always have two extra brushes in your bag when outdoors. I can't tell you how many times I've left my brushes at home after cleaning. At least you can begin painting.

Also, before you place your wet finished piece in its frame, first run a Chapstick lubricant around the inside of the rabbit. This will make for easier removal after drying.
