OIL PAINT

Bring the oil or acrylic pigments you are comfortable with.

These are the ones I use.

  • Cadmium yellow

  • Ultramarine blue

  • Burnt sienna

  • Raw umber

  • Winsor red

  • Winsor orange

  • Yellow ochre

  • Yellow ochre light

  • Sap green

  • Titanium white

  • Ivory black

 

ALKYD PAINT, Winsor & Newton, small tubes (37 ml)

  • Ivory black

  • Burnt sienna

  • Winsor Yellow

  • Titanium white

 

 

MEDIUM

  • Bring the medium you are comfortable with.

I use 1/3 linseed oil, and 2/3 turpentine along with a couple of drops of cobalt drier. I use Turpenoid for cleaning my brushes

 

BRUSHES

  • Bring the brushes you are comfortable with.

I use mostly flats, filberts, brights bristle brushes sizes 2-5 along with a few synthetic small rounds.

 

 

DRAWING SUPPLIES

A few small pieces of light or medium-gray pastel paper

a couple of graphite pencils

a white charcoal pencil

 

 

CANVAS OR PANEL

Bring the size that you are comfortable with painting outside.

I will be painting on oil primed linen canvas mounted on birch panels, from 8x12 to 12x16 inches.

 

EASEL

a plein air easel

I use a Julian French easel

 

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

bug spray

sun screen

trash bags

a chair or stool

umbrella

OPTIONAL

Bring an old frame or two in the size of your canvases. (I like to see my paintings in a frame once done to judge my result.)
